Have you seen those dinky little robot vacuum cleaners that everyone sells now? They are expensive, costing anywhere from just over two hundred dollars to well over five hundred or more, and are they worth that? To me these are more gadgets for guys to buy and show off to their friends with, rather than a serious household machine. Firstly they can’t hold much dirt, which seriously limits their use, and also they won’t have much sucking power either, especially considering they run on batteries and have to keep charging up all the time.
You would be much better off with a cheap but sturdy vacuum like the Hoover U5140-900 that Amazon.com sell, however I was shocked to learn that these robot vacuum cleaners are selling like hot cakes! You only have to look at the number of reviews for the iRobot 560 and you can see they have sold hundreds if not thousands of units, and the reviews are mostly positive as well.
From what I have read then people with pets like to have these cleaners because then when they are out of the house, or not in a room, then this cleaner will regularly go over the room and clean it to keep the level of dust and pet hair down. I think we all leave the cleaning until we really had to do it, so if you do have some extra money lying around and you have either children or pets which are making a mess, then one of these might be a novel way of keeping on top of that mess. I know I am sticking to the old fashioned vacuums for a few years yet though.
