Breakdown Recovery – Understanding UK Vehicle Recovery

Unfortunately, many people fail to realize that not all breakdown cover includes breakdown recovery. Whether it’s a flat battery that’s caused you to be stranded, or whether it’s only a flat tire, having suitable breakdown recovery means you’ll never be left waiting on the side of the road for any length of time.

While recovery crews do manage to repair most problems on the spot, if they fail to do so, your vehicle will be towed to a repair center instead and in most cases, you’ll be driven to your destination.

Inclusive Roadside Assistance

While practically all breakdown cover policies provide roadside assistance, it’s always in your own best interest to verify this before choosing a specific policy. Of course policies can vary considerably from one to the next so you should make absolutely sure that the policy you choose, does indeed meet your needs.

For example, some levels of cover include a courtesy vehicle so you can continue on your way, should it not be possible to get your own vehicle repaired there and then. In this case, you’ll have use of the courtesy vehicle until such time that your own vehicle has been repaired.

Does My Breakdown Cover Include Other Vehicles?

This is perhaps one of the most common questions with regards to breakdown cover policies.

Unfortunately though, for the most part, no other vehicles will be covered by the policy you have. As such, you’ll need to take out separate policies for any other vehicles you may own, be it a van, or me it a minibus or motorcycle.

Of course, while the existing cover doesn’t cover these other vehicles, the company that provides you current cover will be in a position to offer you suitable cover for any other vehicles.
