When You Pay Per Click, You Get What You Pay For

Earlier this week I received an email from a client questioning why he should make use of a professional company to handle his pay per click campaigns for him, if he could in fact do it all himself. The second option would obviously be much cheaper, so why would anyone spend money on paying someone to handle such a campaign for them?

Can I run a pay per click campaign on my own?
I’m sure that my clients aren’t the only ones battling with this question, therefore it’s definitely a matter worth exploring further.

Even though internet marketing can be very successful for a company, it is important that you approach any campaign carefully and systematically. If you do not know what you are doing, you can end up wasting a lot of money and (even worse!) have nothing to show for it!

How do I achieve best results with my pay per click campaign?
The first question you should ask yourself before starting a pay per click, or for that matter, any internet marketing campaign, is the following: What is my most important keyword? If you are in a competitive industry, such as insurance or computers, it is important to keep in mind that your keyword will have more competition than someone like, for example, the corner bakery or the handyman specializing in electronic motor gates. Therefore, the supplier in the computer industry will require a big budget in order to perform well, whereas the bakery and handyman will be able to achieve good results with less effort (effort almost always equals money!)

Pay per click works pretty much on the principle of “How much are you willing to spend to achieve the best results?”

When you create your pay per click campaign, you can set a limit to your campaign. This limit is the maximum amount you are prepared to spend per day (and per month). You can even specify at what times of the day your advert will show and which demographic areas must see your advert. But if you are targeting the wrong keywords, or setting a too low budget, your campaign will still not be successful.

More and more people are starting to realize the importance of internet marketing to promote their products and services. Whether it’s done through search engine optimization, adwords, pay per click or a combination of the above, it is always best to get advice from a professional in the industry. These professionals have tried and tested the different resources available; they know what works and what does not.

If managed correctly, internet marketing can result in a lot of exposure for your company. If not handled correctly, well, then you’re basically just wasting your time and money!

Yes, a pay per click campaign can bring in fantastic results!
Consider the following scenario: Anyone can go to the paint shop, buy paint and paint a house… but will the final result necessarily be as good as when a professional painting company did the same job? Most likely not! Why then trust a person without experience in the field (yourself!) to gamble with such an important task? Pay per click can be extremely powerful, but only if it’s managed correctly! If you want to get your money’s worth, do not take short cuts.
